Photos That Feel Like Your Relationship

One of my favorite things about couples sessions is when they feel personal. When the photos actually represent your relationship — not just a pretty location and cute outfits.

Your session should feel like you.

There are so many ways to personalize a couples session. It can be as simple or as creative as you want it to be. Props, locations, outfits, little activities you love doing together — all of those things can turn your photos into something that feels way more meaningful.

One of my favorite examples of this was Amelya + Corbin’s session.

When we were planning their shoot, they told me about one of their favorite date traditions: grabbing cinnamon sticks and watching the sunset together. It’s something simple they love doing — just sitting together, talking, watching the sky change colors, and sharing their favorite snack.

So we built their session around that.

They brought cinnamon sticks, found a spot to watch the sunset, and just spent time together the way they normally would. It was so simple, but it made the session feel incredibly real and personal to them.

And honestly? Those little details make the biggest difference.

Your couples session doesn’t have to follow a template. It can reflect the places, memories, and traditions that matter to you.

Maybe that looks like:

  • Going back to the spot where you had your first date
  • Shooting somewhere you hike or camp together all the time
  • Visiting a family home that means a lot to you
  • Returning to a place you grew up going to
  • Bringing the love notes he’s written to you since your first date
  • Finding a location that feels like it came straight out of your favorite romantic movie
  • Doing a little activity you love together — grabbing ice cream, playing arcade games, cooking, watching the sunset

There are so many little pieces of your relationship that can be woven into a session.

And that’s what makes the photos feel different.

Because 2026 isn’t about perfect, overly posed photos anymore. It’s about authenticity. It’s about capturing the things that make your relationship unique — the traditions, the places, the inside jokes, the little moments that mean something to the two of you.

Your session doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

In fact, the best ones never do.
